The Alexandria Police Youth Camp, Inc., was founded in 1947. Since then, more than 17,000 Alexandria children have spent part of their summer in the country. Camp Charles Herbert Grimm (named after Charles Herbert Grimm who was killed in Iwo Jima) is located in Kilmarnock, Va., on 95 beautiful acres surrounded on three sides by water that flows into the Chesapeake Bay. The Camp owners are the sworn officers of the Alexandria Police Department. The corporation is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization managed by a Board of Directors.

The Camp is affordable, worry-free, fun, and good old-fashioned camping for children ages 9-11. It includes activities from baseball to horseback riding, crabbing, sailing and swimming, fun, sun and water sports.

The Alexandria Police Youth Camp, now known as alexpyc, is supported by contributions from individuals, business, civic and social service groups, and a grant from the City of Alexandria. Financial statements are available upon request. Contributions are welcome and are tax-deductible. Checks may be made to: Alexandria Police Youth Camp, Inc., P.O. Box 25273, Alexandria, VA 22313.
